As a Connecticut citizen who understands that it is the constitutional right of every child in our state to have access to a high-quality education, I believe there is a moral imperative to take action to close Connecticut’s achievement gap— the largest gap in the nation between low-income, Black and Latino students and their white, middle-class peers.

I support Connecticut’s Campaign for Leadership in Education, Achievement, and Reform Now, “Campaign LEARN” because I know that we cannot wait to do what works for children and we must not rest until every child has access to an excellent public education.

My electronic signature indicates that I understand that Campaign LEARN is a grassroots initiative that raises awareness of Connecticut’s racial and ethnic achievement gap, seeks to identify best practices for closing these gaps, and builds grassroots support for sustainable education policy change; and that I support Campaign LEARN’s four policy priorities for 2010.
